411 Funding Goals Getting Closer

Rio Vista, CA – Thanks to the generosity of our community, the Rio Vista Police
Department is getting closer to reaching the $4,800 cost of implementing the two
year contract for Tip 411 as a service to the citizens of Rio Vista. To date donations
total $3,985. Donations have been coming in from a variety of sources; the
Lion’s Club donated $1,500, Rotary $1,501, Rio Vista Chamber of Commerce
$500, Insight Designs, Hale and Sue Conklin, Ron Jones, Patricia Brodston and
a handful of anonymous donors made up the balance of the funds. “The Tip 411
program will provide a great service to the entire community by offering a “FREE
to the public communication system” that allows our citizens to receive important
information from all city departments,” stated Chief Bowman. “We are grateful
for the support of the community. This program would not be possible without
you,” he stated. The Chief hopes to implement Tip 411 in February.

Anyone interested in donating toward Tip 411 can make contributions by sending a check
to the Police Department at 50 Poppy House Road. Please make the make the
check payable to the City of Rio Vista with a memo to include “TIP 411.” Cash
donations can be made at the police department. So what exactly is Tip 411? It
is a communication system that allows us to communicate with you, the public
via email, text messaging, or social media ( Twitter, Facebook .) The service is
FREE to citizen/ business subscribers and provides an expedient way to communicate
accurate timely information to our citizens.

Listed below are a few of the ways the system can help Rio Vista:
GENERAL NOTIFICATIONS – Public meetings, broken sewer/water lines, traffic
challenges, tips from public safety and notices of interest to the community can be at your fingertips in
moments.

TARGETED INFORMATION will be sent to groups with specific interests/needs,
i.e.: parents, business watch, neighborhood watch, CERT members, etc.
CRIME PREVENTION tool that will allow us to provide you with instant information
about the crimes, suspects and suspicious activity in residential and business communities.
INSTANT MOBILIZATION of the community when necessary- information regarding
a lost /missing child or adult, etc.

EMERGENCY NOTIFICATIONS: gas leaks, flooding, evacuation notification.
Tip411 can be used to direct our citizens to a safe place.
ANONYMOUS TIPS TO LAW ENFORCEMENT – Anyone can provide information
regarding criminal activity, suspects or issues of concern with complete anonymity.
