Solano County Library invites everyone to take the Summer Reading
Challenge.
Continuing to read during the summer break is important for children, as it
helps to ward off the summer slump. The Solano County Reading Challenge
is designed to help students track their reading activities and earn prizes in
the process. Beginning June 1, visit any Solano County Library branch to
register for the reading program. Registrants will receive a Summer Reading
Challenge passport and a book bag. The Challenge is easy. Participants
determine their summer reading goal by deciding how many passport
activities they plan to complete during the summer. Each time an activity is
completed, participants can return to the branch and get their passport
stamped. When they complete their Challenge, adults will earn a
commemorative enamel pin while teens and children receive a book prize.
Everyone signed up for the Summer Reading Challenge is automatically
entered into weekly prize drawings for movie passes, ferry passes, Jelly Belly
gifts, and Oakland A’s tickets.
In addition to the exciting passport reading activities, all Solano County
Library branches will offer a series of fun and enriching programs. From
magic shows and visits from reptiles, wild animals, petting zoos, and hula
dancers to cooking demos and craft programs, your Solano County Library
branches have something for everyone.
