Detours Available to Motorists for Scheduled Long-term Closure through Late December
SACRAMENTO COUNTY – Caltrans is alerting motorists that the Steamboat Slough Bridge on State Route 160 (SR-160) near Courtland will be to closed to vehicle traffic daily Monday through Friday for additional construction work to maintain and keep the bridge operational.
Caltrans will complete electrical and mechanical upgrades during the bridge closure. The bridge remains safe for travel for the non-closure access.
BRIDGE CLOSURE SCHEDULE:
- July 15 – December 30, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday
DETOUR:
· Caltrans urges motorists to use either the Paintersville Bridge (north of closure) or the Walnut Grove Bridge (south of closure) as an alternate crossing point. (Refer to included maps below).
These Delta bridges were originally constructed in the early 1920s and then reconstructed or refurbished in the early 1950s. Caltrans urges motorists to plan accordingly and to use suggested detours. Current truck restrictions will apply.
California legal trucks having a kingpin-to-rear-axle of more than 30 feet are not recommended on SR-160.
