*Names and other specific information to identify persons are intentionally omitted. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty. Charges may be changed or dropped. This is not a reflection of every police activity, but rather a selective summary.

June 5

Two separate but related vandalisms were reported. Both involved a relatively small amount of spray paint. One incident occurred at a city park and another happened at the school district bus yard.

A boat was broken into while being stored at a storage yard on Airport Road. The owner reported that the boat had been there for months so he could not specify a timeframe. The items that were taken were mainly personal fishing equipment.

Officers were called to Drouin Drive for a report of a woman chasing a man with a bat. When Officers arrived, they de-escalated the situation and learned that the man and woman had a relationship. He had apparently threatened the woman and minorly assaulted her. He had initially escaped detection when officers first arrived, but he was later located and booked into county jail for domestic violence charges.

June 6

Officers were called to River Road for a dispute between two neighbors. One neighbor had parked a box truck near the other neighbor’s house, effectively blocking their parking places. Several messages were written on the box truck in a taunting manner. Officers learned that there was a restraining order in effect for these two neighbors. Because the actions taken with the taunting writing, the deliberate parking and statements from both neighbors – Officers determined that the harassment today as intentional and therefore in violation of the restraining order. The harasser was booked into county jail for violating a restraining order.

June 7

Officers responded to Esperson Court and Drouin Drive for a report of a man chasing a woman. Officers arrived in the area and learned that the woman had spent the night in the man’s home and then left suddenly in the morning, taking a large amount of money with her. The man was chasing her to get his money back. The woman was picked up by another person who he alleged brandished a gun at him. No one was injured in this incident. Suspects have been identified are arrests are pending.

June 8

At 3 o’clock in the afternoon, a man driving on Highway 12 stopped his car near Hillside Terrace and simply walked away. He abandoned his car and walked toward the Ford dealership. He saw a car parked in a stall in front of the building, so he got in the car, used a key that was inside the car and started the car. He rolled forward, but the car stalled as it was a manual transmission and the suspect did not know how to operate it. He was confronted by Ford staff and the suspect then got out of the car and continued walking. He was found by Officers on Harris Road and was detained with no problems. He was arrested for attempting to steal the car from the Ford dealership.

June 10

An observant driver reported that a vehicle was driving recklessly on Highway 12. Officers caught up to the vehicle and made contact with the driver. It was apparent the driver had been drinking. After several field sobriety tests, the driver was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol.
