$13,250 Rio Vista Community Fund Available

Last year The Beacon published an article about the Rio Vista City Council approving $10,000 in annual grant funds available to local clubs and non-profit groups.

Due to a ‘perfect storm’ of events, including the Coronavirus pandemic, City Hall was only able to award $6,750 last fiscal year (July 2019 – June 2020). This left $3,250 to be rolled over into this year’s $10,000 commitment for a total of $13,250.  Each quarter Rio Vista city administration advertises this opportunity so that groups may apply for remaining funds.  Grants are awarded in varying amounts depending on the number and type of applications received.  Currently, the City is calling for grant applications for the upcoming quarter by October 7th at 5:00 PM.

Awards are decided by the city council based on … “Organizations seeking funds should demonstrate and justify how the funds will be used for the public good and how the use of the funds will benefit the city.  At this time (the) Council chose to not restrict the dollar amount any one organization can request, rather consider each application on a case-by-case basis.”

How to apply for a grant award is specified in the advertisement included in this issue of The Beacon.  However, to get an early start, go to the City website and navigate to www.riovistacity.com/city-downloads/.  From this webpage select the heading “Community Funding Request Form” and download it.  A copy may also be picked up at City Hall.  If choosing to get the form in person remember face masks and social distancing requirements must be followed and that city hall is closed Fridays.
