Rio Vista Gets Ready for a Festive Lunar New Year Bash

Lunar New Year Celebrations Sparkle in the Delta!

Get your lucky red envelopes ready—Rio Vista is rolling out the lanterns for an unforgettable Lunar New Year party on February 28, 2026! The festivities honor the hardworking immigrants from across the Pacific—Chinese, Japanese, and Filipino laborers and farmers—who helped shape the Delta region. While not all these vibrant communities ring in Lunar New Year, many do, and this year, especially the Chinese community will be celebrating in full gallop with the arrival of the year of the Horse. RioVision invites everyone to join this joyful celebration and trot into the new year together!

What’s Happening? Music, Magic, and More!

The party kicks off at 11:00 AM at the Toy Building, 154 North Front Street, and the lively Pole Barn next door. Prepare for an action-packed day bursting with drumbeats from Taiko performers, dazzling calligraphy, Mah Jong showdowns, and chopstick challenges that’ll test your dexterity! By midday, the Lion Dance troupe will storm in with colorful costumes and ear-splitting gongs, parading down Main Street to bless local businesses with prosperity and keep those pesky bad spirits far away. In the afternoon, settle in for a special screening of the locally produced film VOICES: CHINESE WOMEN OF THE DELTA, a moving tribute powered by the Locke Foundation and their Oral History Project.

Stay Tuned—There’s More!

The party plans are still sizzling, so keep an eye out for updates. Find info on scoring your free reservation for the film (donations welcome for the filmmakers!) on posters, on local news, or at discoverriovista.com. Don’t miss your chance to join the excitement!
