Rock’n Rocket

Under the command of Captain James T. Kirk, the USS Starship Enterprise carried on a mission to boldly go where no man had gone before. Similarly, under the leadership of Rio Vista resident Dan Simpson, a unique Starlight Stageshow superstructure transports bands and audiences where few have gone before. Dan and his crew (DryVac employees, The Lion’s Club, Coast Guard personnel, and other Community Volunteers),  transport, set up and tear down this 20,000 pound ‘portable’ stage as a surround setting for musical concerts throughout the Rio Vista area. ”The primary purpose of these events is to bring people into downtown Rio Vista” says Dan, “drawing visitors who wouldn’t otherwise visit our area. It is more than music to us; it is an investment in our community.”

One of the only portable, fully self-contained, plug-and-play music stages in the US, this Starlight performance venue can be experienced in Downtown Rio Vista, along the river, on alternate Friday nights.  Bands like The Livin Daylites, The River Ratz and Groovy Judy will perform those Friday eves for your listening pleasure. The next Friday Night Rock’n on the River performance is scheduled for April 29th.   And come June 18th at the Rio Rock Music Festival, the Starlight Stage will additionally feature The Briefcase Blues Brothers and Skynnyn Lynnyrd Bands.  The June 18th extravaganza is a fundraiser with all proceeds going to local charities and Rio Vista Law Enforcement.

“it’s one of the best portable stage, sound and light systems ever made; helping to create a unique musical experience for everyone to enjoy”, says Dan Simpson. The Structure boasts a 40’ x 16’ performance area, is fully portable, and once in place is perfectly aligned and levelled for band safety and staging. There are 14 speakers on the stage, with 8 more stationed strategically to properly target and surround the crowd.  There are 15 hand-held microphones, and 15 more area mics; each digitally enhanced to capture and project perfect tones of musical magic. Twenty lights of various colors, and a full-size professional spotlight, enrich the crowd’s viewing experience. It’s fully powered, and because it’s portable, can be quickly staged and ready for flight at strategic locations throughout the Rio Vista community.

So, get on board, and boldly go where you’ve never gone before … like Alternate Friday nights in Downtown Rio Vista; and at the Rio Rock Music Festival on June 18th.

Admission to the Friday Night Concerts is Free. Tickets for the Rio Rock Musical Festival and Fundraiser may be acquired at  www.Eventbrite,com and Starlightstageshow.com.   Or buy in person at the Rio Vista Art & Music Center.
