Kathie Boissiere, our Artist of the Month for July 2020, came to Rio Vista from the Bay Area two years ago. She has been exploring and growing as an artist for about 40 years.
She jumped right into the local art scene by entering the Trilogy Art Guild Annual Show in 2018 and then chairing the show in 2019. She was happy to find a very active and talented art community here. She has been represented by the Rio Vision Gallery for a year and a half.
Kathie painted first in watercolor, and then gradually began adding other mediums such as pastel, acrylic and collage. Her interests also came to include abstraction in addition to a more realistic approach.
“My art is inspired by color, line, shape and movement, independent of any subject matter. It is endlessly fascinating to put down a color or shape on the paper and then let the painting tell me what is next. This method leaves the artist open to any possibility or direction. The results will hopefully leave room for the viewer to find his own story there as well.”
Kathie’s art will be on display at RioVision Gallery along with many other artists. We are open and practicing safe and clean procedures. Enjoy a time away from home in a safe and peaceful environment. We are unable to have our usual receptions at this time but you can still meet the artists. Our hours are 11 am to 3 pm Tuesday through Saturday.
