Work will be from Antioch Bridge to South Sacramento
SACRAMENTO COUNTY — Caltrans is alerting motorists about safety improvements scheduled for both directions of State Route 160 in the Delta region at multiple locations starting this week. The work will require daytime and nighttime traffic control.
Caltrans’ crews will be adding new centerline reflective markers, applying 6-inch striping on the centerline and edge lines of the highway and installing new markers on the edge lines to enhance visibility and safety for all travelers.
Work will begin at the Antioch bridge to the State Route 12/160 intersection and continue to Isleton and into south Sacramento over the next several weeks.
Motorists should plan for additional travel time on SR-160 beginning Monday.Caltrans advises motorists to use alternate routes if possible to avoid traffic delays.
“Caltrans has worked with the California Highway Patrol and our local partners to improve safety along State Route 160,” said District 3 Director Amarjeet S. Benipal. “The addition of 6-inch striping will improve visibility on this rural route and safety will be enhanced by adding more than 31,000 pavement markers.”
“The California Highway Patrol has met with Caltrans to share our views about State Route 160 improvements,” said CHP Valley Division Chief Mike Dust. “Our department continues to work with our partners to improve safety for motorists and and we look forward to the completion of this project.”
Weather conditions, availability of equipment, materials and personnel could delay or reschedule work.
