New Face at F&M Bank

If, you happen to have stopped in at F&M Bank recently, you’ve probably seen a new smiling face. The person behind the smile since April 1st, is Vice President /Branch Manager, Virginia Thomas.

Having been in the banking industry since 1987, she started her career with First Interstate Bank and then working for US. Bank. Spending the last 15 years with Umpqua Bank, where she was an Area Vice President/ Branch Manager for the Walnut Creek, Concord and Antioch locations.

Thomas knew two years ago when she moved to Trilogy that she wanted to work locally. A year ago Thomas interviewed with F&M Bank, although currently there was no openings available.

Then after Joana Rodriguez retired, F&M called her back in, where she went through a series of interviews, and was offered her position. “I love this community, this is home for me.” This feels right, and it’s a great fit,” she says.

Being in the business for 33 years, she has one fond memory. Years ago there was a young woman that was expecting. Thomas would tell her about opening an account after the baby was born. When her son was born, she came in with the piggy bank that she had given her at her baby shower, an opened an account. For years the young man came in and made deposits. Many times Thomas would stand at the counter with him and help roll pennies. He now has graduated from college, and they still stay in touch.

Married to her husband for 33 years. They’re the parents of two children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Thomas couldn’t be happier. She has a short commute, enjoys her job, and loves Rio Vista. This is what you would call “living the dream.”
