Pizza A GoGo Celebrates First Anniversary

Did you know that in 2022, there were more than 80,000 pizzerias in the US? When Robin Sibert decided to open her Pizza A GoGo in Rio Vista in January 2023, she knew she would be joining a large fraternity of pizza makers but also knew that Rio Vista was in need of her products and the new pizzeria would find a place in the Rio Vista restaurant scene.

Now a year later, she has been proven correct with a successful eatery that serves over 700 customers a month and has an 80% return rate. The Rio Vista community has welcomed the restaurant enthusiastically and the Sibert family, true to their history in this city, has returned the favor with support for many local organizations and causes.

The next step for the pizzeria has already begun with the expansion of the upstairs space started just before the New Year. This will double the room to accommodate booths and more tables, making the space ideal for parties and group meetings as well as a neighborhood gathering place where live bands can perform.

Pizza A GoGo will mark their first anniversary on Saturday, Jan. 13 with a party featuring The Grinders, from 7-10 pm. They are also offering a drawing where customers who purchase any large pizza from Jan. 1 to Jan. 13 will receive an entry into the drawing for each purchase. During the anniversary party they will draw the name of one lucky customer who will receive a certificate for PIZZA FOR A YEAR, a large 2-topping pizza given to the recipient once each month for 12 months. During the day, customers can purchase any appetizers for $1 off, and drop by to sign the Anniversary Greetings Poster.

They will also be honoring six employees who have been with Pizza A GoGo continuously since the beginning, including General Manager Michael Morgan, Assistant Manager Mykie Sibert, Shift Supervisors Kyndal Brazil and Amy Henning, and pizza makers Sandra Viera and Melissa Delancy.

The year has been an interesting one for the restaurant, which started with a menu of Specialty and Build Your Own pizzas, selected Pizza by the Slice, bottled drinks and Delta Dough and Wings appetizers. Their offerings have expanded to include a lush Chef’s Salad, 3 additional appetizers and a sampler platter, a Breakfast Pizza, daily Specialty Slices, a luncheon special, desserts, and a fountain for dispensing soft drinks. In October, they received their liquor license to begin selling beer and wine, and now offer domestic and craft beers as well as wine by the small bottle. Soon they will be offering draft beer by the pitcher or glass.

Some of the highlights of the year included the introduction of “Biggie Cheese,” a costumed character that patrols Main Street during big events to hand out goodies to the kids (who call him The Pizza Man). The staff created a float for the Bass Derby Parade, which won as the Best Commercial Entry, and a large trunk full of candy was available out front during the Trunk or Treat Event. Live Bands and Karaoke were part of local celebrations such as Sidewalk Saturdays and the Bass Derby, and Robin introduced Trivia Night which is now held every Friday.

Robin has other tricks up her sleeve for the second year of business to expand her menu further, improve the interior and exterior of the building, and continue her involvement in the community. Everyone is invited to stop by on January 13 to wish the staff well, sign the Anniversary Poster, and enjoy great pizza, salads, appetizers and desserts.
