*Names and other specific information to identify persons are intentionally omitted. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty. Charges may be changed or dropped. This is not a reflection of every police activity, but rather a selective summary.

April 17 A 19-year old man stole a bottle of alcohol from Lira’s Store. He was stopped by officers after he left the parking lot. He admitted to taking a bottle of liquor without paying. Lira’s was not interested in pressing charges so long as their merchandise was returned in good standing. While officers were talking to the thief, they learned he had a warrant for carrying a loaded firearm. He was placed under arrest for the warrant and his vehicle was towed.

April 18 Officers responded to the 600 block of Main Street for a family disturbance. They learned that no one was injured, nor did anyone commit any crime. The officers spent time with both sides of the argument to help mediate the situation.

Around 9pm, an officer saw a car on Highway 12 near Hillside Terrace driving with no headlights on and no license plates. He stopped the car and the driver lied about his name. Officers learned his real name and that he was on probation for theft. One of the terms of his probation was to submit himself and his belongings to search. While searching the car, officers found a large amount of narcotics hidden in his engine compartment. They also located a tool commonly used to steal vehicles. The suspect was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of methamphetamine, resisting an officer, providing false identification to an officer and violating the terms of his probation.

April 20 Officers were called to the area of River Road for a possible domestic violence incident. Officers arrived and found a woman saying she and her fiancé were arguing about a debit card. When her fiancé got upset with her, he began to strangle her so she could not breath. He stopped attacking her and left the area. The woman then became argumentative with officers when they began asking follow-up questions. Officers searched the area for the suspect, but did not locate him. The report was written and forwarded to the DA for prosecution. **On 4/24/20, the same suspect was arrested for a separate incident.

April 23 Sometime overnight, a suspect or suspects cut the lock to a business yard on Airport Road. They entered the structures on the property and took several thousand dollars or more worth of tools. They then saw a truck on the property and we are able to load items into and then start the truck. They stole the truck and left the property. The truck, however, did not run very well and the thieves stopped in the Liberty development. They located a different work truck that was a similar year, make and model. They were able to load the stolen items into that truck and steal that truck as well. They left the originally stolen truck behind. Several items of evidence, including surveillance, were located. The second stolen truck was later located in the city of Danville
