April 24
In the 100 block of River Road, Deputies responded to a fight between husband and wife. When deputies arrived, the husband had already run off. His wife told us that they argued over money, but then the husband placed his hands on her neck and squeezed. He was located an hour or so later and was placed under arrest. Deputies assisted the wife with obtaining an emergency restraining order. Deputies were dispatched to Family Dollar for someone reportedly sleeping in their bushes.
Deputies found the subject and immediately recognized mental health issues. Due to his comments, actions and overall mental state, Deputies determined he was not able to care for himself and he was taken for mental health services in Fairfield.
April 25
Graveyard Deputies saw a vehicle on Highway 12 with illegal tint in its windows and they performed a vehicle stop. They immediately noticed the driver appear to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver tested at .15 blood alcohol level. The legal limit to drive with alcohol in your system is .08. The driver was arrested without incident.
Deputies have been working to prevent trespassing and possible thefts throughout the city. A person was contacted at a property on Airport Road two days prior to this and was officially warned not to return to the property unless on official business. On this day, a Deputy conducted a security check on the warehouse and found the same person had returned and was essentially living in the warehouse. He acknowledged that he had already been warned not to return. He was issued a citation for trespassing. Because of recent legislation and the relatively minor offense of this one incident, this case is being held by our office. Should this behavior or similar behavior continue, the cases will be referred to the District Attorney in bulk for prosecution. If the behavior stops, then there will be no consequence and it will be treated as a warning.
A Trilogy resident called to report a restraining order violation. Their son was legally restrained from contacting them and required to stay away from the property. When Deputies arrived, he was parked in the driveway of the residence he was restrained from. His father said he simply wanted him to leave the property which he did. Further discussion from the parents about past actions and their safety concerns caused Deputies to reevaluate the situation. They believed new charges were appropriate and that the subject should be arrested and booked into jail. They attempted to find the suspect, but no longer could. Deputies on the dayshift the following morning we able to locate the suspect and placed him under arrest.
April 26
A Deputy observed a car travelling about 60 miles per hour through the center of the city (the speed limit is 35 miles per hour). They caught up to the driver and stopped the vehicle. The driver did not have a license. They were issued a ticket for driving without a license and the car was towed from the roadway.
April 29
Someone reported that their mail had be stolen from the mailbox on Tahoe Drive. The suspect had apparently been peering into windows and over their fence and may have been scouting the home to burglarize. There was home surveillance video of this and the suspect was carrying mail in his hand which he eventually threw on the ground. The mail belonged to the home he was looking into. When asked about the behavior, he claims he was looking for a bench to sit on. He also said he knew he had their mail, but would not explain why he thought he could take their mail. This report is being forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office at the request of the victim.
April 30
A vehicle was seen driving with no license plates. A Deputy pulled the vehicle over and the driver had two warrants from Amador County. Due to COVID-19, Amador County requested we issue a citation for the warrants. The driver signed a promise to appear in Amador County court and was released.
