May 22
A tenant at a storage yard had parked his boat and trailer about one week ago. The returned this day and learned it was no longer there. Because of video surveillance and witnesses, a suspect has been identified and is being actively sought.
Close to midnight, an officer pulled over a vehicle on Highway 12 for having multiple broken lights. While talking to the driver, the officer believed the driver was under the influence of marijuana. Upon searching the car, an officer located two large bags of marijuana weighing a total of 25 ounces. The legal amount for someone to carry for personal use is one ounce. He also had butane hash oil which is a concentrated marijuana extract. Along with other items, the driver was issued citations for having a controlled substance and having marijuana with the intent to illegally sell it. Due to recent changes in drug laws, these crimes are misdemeanors only.
May 23
An officer responded to a traffic accident on 4th Street. The driver was being treated by paramedics, but showed obvious signs of intoxication. She was evaluated and later provided a blood alcohol content of 0.26, over three times the legal limit. She was issued a citation for driving under the influence and was released from the Police Department to a licensed and sober driver.
May 24
Officers were dispatched to a fight at the boat launch next to City Hall. This fight involved a large group of people from two different boats. After the initial incident was called down, multiple people were determined to have assaulted others. Because the injuries were minor, both parties were allowed to leave, but they were identified, and evidence was collected. The report is being forwarded to the District Attorney for prosecution on five people suspected of striking others.
May 26
A driver who was delivering to Chevron left their window down on their vehicle and while they were inside, they had a backpack and cellphone taken. The store cameras did not capture any of the theft and there are no leads at this point.
May 27
A vehicle had been reported stolen from Morgan Lane. However, on this day, the owner called the Police Department to say he had found his own vehicle. He had parked it in another location after what he described as a “wild Memorial Day weekend”. The vehicle was removed from the stolen vehicle system and returned to the owner.
May 28
Dispatch received a call that a 23 year old had fallen overboard from a sailboat at Delta Marina. Officers and Fire/Medics quickly responded to the marina, but no sailboat was seen. They looked in the marina as well as up and down the river, but saw no sign of a sailboat, or any other boat, in distress. We were able to plot the GPS coordinates from the 911 call and learned they were calling from San Joaquin County. The call was transferred to that agency.
On Monday night, a fight had occurred on Virginia Street between three people. At the time, no one that was involved wanted to press charges and no one had significant injuries. One party had later visited their doctor and learned their injuries were more significant than they had realized. They called to inform us of this and a report was authored. Due to the passage of time, the report is being forwarded to the District Attorney for potential prosecution as this was a mutual combat situation.
