Rio Vista resident Steven Hoffman passed unexpectedly at home on the evening of April 20th. Steve spent his childhood in Flint, Michigan, and his family moved to the East Bay when he was in his teens. Steve is preceded in death by his parents; Barbara (Hough) and Richard Hoffman. He is survived by his wife Carol (Anderson), sister Kay Sullivan, son Peter Gollinger (Emily), daughter Jenna Holly (Trevor), niece Ginny Hugenberger, and five grandchildren; Anna Gollinger, Claire Holly, Henry Gollinger, William Gollinger, and June Holly.
Steve was a middle school science teacher in the East Bay for more than 20 years, instilling a love of science in thousands of students. Steve married the love of his life, Carol, in 1993. Steve was an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed watching basketball, especially the Golden State Warriors. Steve enjoyed spending time with his family and loved traveling with his buddies for fly fishing adventures. Steve made friends wherever he went, and he will be deeply missed by many.
