Each year, Veolia Water West Operating Services (Rio Vista’s water and wastewater contractor) donates $10,000 to the City of Rio Vista for use by local charities.   This year the City Council earmarked $12,750 for 6 Non-Profit Service Clubs.   The extra $2,750 is a one-time carryover from last year’s allocation which was not awarded due to the pandemic.

The City Council provides input to Veolia as to the final amount earmarked for all applicants.  Any charitable organization may apply for a portion of these funds up to a limit of $3,500 each.   At the January 12th meeting council members voted their recommendations. This year’s initial requests totaled $17,500.  These were scaled down to the available $12,750.  All the funds were committed  based upon each council member’s estimate of value to the Rio Vista  community.
