Online meeting to be held on August 25, 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm PST on how the local implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) is moving forward.

Rio Vista, CA — The Solano Subbasin Groundwater Sustainability Agency Collaborative (Solano Collaborative) is hosting a Solano Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) Virtual Town Hall on August 25th at 5:30 pm. At the meeting, the Collaborative will share updates on the implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) in the Solano Subbasin. This will include information about the status of the Solano GSP Development Process, updates on groundwater conditions in the Solano Subbasin, how to comment on the draft GSP, and an overview of the projects and management actions being considered to help us maintain groundwater sustainability in the subbasin.

There will be time throughout the meeting for the public to ask questions.

The Solano Collaborative is working hard to develop a GSP to address challenging groundwater issues in a way that is appropriate to the Solano Subbasin. The GSP will be submitted to the Department of Water Resources no later than January 31, 2022. Chris Lee, Chair of the Solano Collaborative, emphasized the importance of local engagement in this effort to protect our communities:

“Cities like Dixon and Rio Vista rely 100% on groundwater for their domestic needs. The Sustainable Groundwater Management Act did allow for local control and we think that it’s very important to keep management of our resources here at the local level. It is going to take all of you to help us to make sure that does happen so that we can continue with our storied agricultural communities for generations to come. ”

The Solano Collaborative is the working group of the Groundwater Sustainability Agencies in Solano County including the Solano Irrigation District GSA, Solano Subbasin GSA, Sacramento GSA, Vacaville GSA, and the Northern Delta GSA.

Date: Wednesday, August 25th from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm PST
