Soroptimist International of Rio Vista announces the application opening for the 2023 Women’s Empowerment Award. This award assists women with the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects.
Women are eligible to apply if they have primary financial responsibility for themselves, are attending an undergraduate, graduate degree program, or a vocational skills training program, show a financial need, and have not received this award previously. They can obtain the application by going to www.siriovista.org and look for the Women’s Empowerment Award, or call/email Jean Santry, Jeansantry@sbcglobal.net, (707) 853-9883. The application deadline is February 28, 2023.
Soroptimist invests in women, focusing on the one area that has the most impact on transforming lives and communities—education. By empowering women and girls through access to education and training, the lives of individuals, families, and whole communities can be improved.
When women learn, families live healthier lives. When girls go to school, they are more likely to get paying jobs and their financial contributions to their families increase. When girls have educated moms, they are more likely to be enrolled in school and to reach higher levels of education.
